Classes

Sharing With Community

In our classes and workshops, we believe that the art of creating with your hands is a journey of discovery, connection, and joy. Handwork is more than just a craft; it is a nurturing process that awakens the senses, fosters creativity, and cultivates mindfulness. We invite you to explore the enchanting world of textiles, fibers, and the simple pleasures of making.

Whether you're a seasoned artisan or a curious beginner, our classes cater to all skill levels. Join us as we celebrate the beauty of handwork, where each stitch tells a story, and every creation is a labor of love. You are not just learning a skill; you are entering a community that values creativity, patience, and a connection to the earth. Let your head, hands, and heart work as one.

Most classes are offered privately, allowing for a personalized experience tailored to your needs. We invite you to contact us directly.

"The hand is the instrument of the mind. It is through the hand that we express our thoughts and feelings, transforming the world around us into a reflection of our inner selves."

Sometimes, the front office will call in the middle of handwork class to deliver the devastating news that you’re leaving early for an appointment. You might be a little teary as you walk out the door but our furry friends will watch over your knitting while you’re away. Sometimes life is hard but there’s always something we can do to make it a little bit better. Look for the bright spots my dear ones. ✨✨✨

🐑 My hands are good, and yes I would,⁣
Spin some yarn for you.⁣
If you would, and if you could,⁣
Let’s spin our dreams anew. 🐑
⁣
This Winter, I had the pleasure of guiding a special group of private students through the intricate process of carding and spinning wool, then dyeing our spun yarn using plants. We then knitted and crocheted our newly made yarn into beautiful journal covers, pencil cases, book bags, and hats! The process was long, but sooo rewarding. Transforming nature into art with our own two hands! ⁣

My heart remains broken. The loss from the ongoing CA fires is too close, too personal, too great. Los Angeles is my home, and despite its expanse, it often feels intimately small. Every connection reveals another thread woven into this shared tragedy, no matter how minor it may seem. ⁣
⁣
The Waldorf community is even more tightly knit, and in this moment of need, both Westside Waldorf School and Pasadena Waldorf School need our support.⁣
⁣
While most words continue to elude me, I will keep my head, heart, and hands busy, sheltering, gathering, donating. I hope you can do the same.

Recently, a first grader hugged me twelve times with the joy of a thousand rainbows when they finished knitting their very first project (a kitty!). They were absolutely beaming. The pride and joy of a small child is incredibly infectious. It made me think about all the glimmers I have been lucky to witness and be a part of over my many years as a teacher. I received messages from many of you sharing your own experiences too! You get it! ✨🌈✨⁣

Color exploration continues in 4th grade! Using mosaics to play with color combinations and unique designs as we learn about radial symmetry. This is just one of the many magical ways handwork and math collide. Did you ever imagine math could look like art? ⁣

The entire 4th grade cross stitch process is something special, but this particular part is always everyone’s most favorite day. We sit in a circle around our big hoop of threads to tell our color stories and carefully choose our threads. Why is it so fun having our very own little ring of colors? 🌈⁣
⁣
4th graders really need to love their cross stitch to slowly work on them stitch by stitch and this little ring always seals the deal! 🪡⁣
⁣
Waldorf cross stitch is my true love and it makes me so happy to pass it on ✨⁣
